There is much written about the importance of planning, of having a plan for today, tomorrow, next week, and so on into the future. Indeed, there are even some which suggest that you should plan for the future by writing your own obituary - what would history say about you, and what would you want it to say?
Of course, by having a plan for the future, whether it's for later today or whether it's for 20 years time, it gives us direction, a sense of purpose. This, in turn, improves our sense of well-being - happy people have plans and goals, and those who have plans and goals tend to be happier.
As we make our plans and set our goals, there are three factors to take into account:
